PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

  • Proposed installed capacity 100MWdc solar PV ground mount system
  • Expected annual generation: 173,106,000 AC kWh
  • Transmission and distribution not included
  • Offtaker: local ESP in Mogadishu
  • Total area needed: 479,600m²
  • The land is secured, located about 30 km north-east of Mogadishu airport and it is available for the project.
  • The land space will be allocated as follows:
    • 2°08’42.0″N 45°31’57.0″E
    • Total avoidance of C02: 6,642,749kg of CO2 per year

PROJECT LOCATION:

Mogadishu City

ACTIONS REQUIRED/ IMPLEMENTATION ARRANGEMENTS/ CONTRACT TYPE:

  • Public Private Partnership (PPP) model
  • Financed by investors (equity and debt)
  • The SPV (special-purpose vehicle/entity) will sign a power purchase agreement with the local ESP at a price of USD 7,5¢/kWh for 25 years

ESTIMATED COST OF THE PROJECT:

USD 99 million

REMARKS:

30% equity
70% investors finance – repayment in 15 years
