The company expanded into Africa to provide healthcare solutions to a region with significant medical needs but one that is under-served by the global pharmaceutical industry.

Humanwell Pharmaceutical Ethiopia PLC is its medicine factory. The company has obtained a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certificate and local production has reduced the country’s need to use foreign exchange to import medicine. It has the capacity to produce 30 million bottles of liquid syrup and suspension, 1.6 billion tablets and capsules, and 80 million ampules.
