Project Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Government has completed a feasibility study on glass manufacturing and findings show that Rwanda has enough raw materials for a viable glass production plant business.

Total quartz sand reserves are estimated at over 60 million tons. These reserves are sufficient for more than 700 years of production. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is 29.4% for container glass and 20.8% for flat glass.

It is a fully private company, although the Government of Rwanda is willing to support investors in identifying suitable land sites as well as necessary infrastructure on terms that can be discussed with the successful bidder.

PERIOD OF IMPLEMENTATION:

The container glass project investment can be expected to take 24 months and the float plant can be expected to take about 30 months to set up.

Payback period of 5 years and 3 months for container glass and 8 years and 4 months for the float glass project
