Amapongokwe Dam
Project Description
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The proposed dam is on the Mapongokwe River. The centre line of the wall will be about 500m downstream from the Makati and Mapongokwe river confluence. It is shown on a locality sketch drawing 11481-SK. It can be located at Grid Reference QJ978091, of the 1:50000 map series.
The dam has provisions for raising using radial gates to increase capacity. The project purpose is to supply water to the city of Gweru.
