Establishment of a Synthetic Yarn Spinning Plant
Project Description
The global technical textiles market was valued at over USD 200 billion in 2024 and continues to expand rapidly, driven by demand for high-performance materials in construction, automotive, healthcare and agriculture.
Synthetic yarns such as polyester and nylon are the backbone of this growth, with end uses spanning apparel, carpets, upholstery, ropes, industrial fabrics and home textiles. Despite this vast demand, Africa has no synthetic yarn spinning facility, forcing regional manufacturers to depend on costly imports from Asia and Europe.
By combining these global, regional, and policy dynamics, the project presents a unique first-mover advantage to position Mauritius as a competitive hub for both traditional apparel inputs and the fast-growing technical textiles sector, while diversifying its industrial base and attracting new investment.
