Project Description
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project aims to establish a small plant to produce sugar from sugar cane within five units at lower cost and without wasting energy or resources. Sugar can be produced from sugar cane, sugar beet or any other crop with sugar content.
In Darfur, sugar cane is the main source of sugar. At present, this is the largest agro-based industry in the area.
The industry involves a total capital of USD 10 million and provides employment to 1,500 workers.

ESTIMATED COST OF THE PROJECT:
The estimated capital cost of this project is USD 5 million and the operation cost is USD 200 per ton of sugar.
PERIOD OF IMPLEMENTATION:
6 to 24 Months

Economic and fiscal terms:
- Manufacturing 15 mini sugar plants of 50-100_tcd capacity to be installed in 15 locations. Each plant will be capable of processing 18,000 tons of cane in 180 days
- The output from this project will be sugar and molasses worth USD 60 million
- Payback period – 24 months
- Serving local and international markets
