PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Development of fully irrigated commercial farm to be available via a lease for farming investors.
Key Features:
- 15,600 Ha of irrigated land
- Implementation in two phases with 5,600 Ha for phase I and 10,000 Ha for phase II
- Revenue generation from land lease and sale of water, agricultural inputs and services
- Plots to be leased in 200 Ha increments
- Initial investment for land development and infrastructure made by Government of Rwanda (90%) and Netafim (10%)

CURRENT STATUS/ STAGE OF PROJECT:
- Construction works ongoing of internal roads (61km), bulk water supply, project assets compensation and community resettlements as well as project electrification
- Selection criteria for land allocation finalized
ACTIONS REQUIRED/ IMPLEMENTATION ARRANGEMENTS/ CONTRACT TYPE:
- Leasing land for commercial farming
- Acquiring government shares (negotiable)
- Services related to agriculture activities at the site
- Contract farming with the community
AVAILABILITY OF PRE-FEASIBILITY STUDIES, FEASIBILITY STUDIES, AND OTHER STUDIES:
Feasibility study completed
