Okulacere Small Hydropower Project
Project Description
The Okulacere Small Hydropower Project involves the development of a 7.26MW run-of-river hydropower plant along the Anyau River in Yumbe District, West Nile region. The project is designed to harness available water discharge through a 3km water conveyance system from the dam to the forebay, after which water will be channeled via steel penstocks to the powerhouse. The plant will operate using two Francis turbines, each rated at 3.63MW, generating a total installed capacity of about 7.26MW and annual energy production of 24.7 GWh.
Power generated will be transmitted via a 33kV double circuit line to the Arua substation. The project aims to provide reliable, clean energy to underserved communities, contributing to rural electrification and Uganda’s green development goals.
