Africa 2018 Forum: Business for Africa and the World


COMESA RIA and the Egyptian Government represented by the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation successfully convened the highest-level and most attended business and investment Africa-to-Africa forum. This year’s theme “Bold leadership and collective commitment: Advancing Intra African Investments.”  Africa 2018 was held under the high patronage of H.E. Abdel Fatah Al Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, during the 8th and 9th December 2018, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The 2018 edition builds on the success of the previous editions, which have seen the participation of 11 Heads of State and more than 3,000 delegates representing 80+ countries worldwide including 49 Africa countries. This year the programme has been enhanced with the first Women Empowering Africa (WEA) initiative and the second edition of  the Young Entrepreneurs Day (YED).

Heads of the following regional and international organizations also participated at the forum; H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe, Secretary Geneal of COMESA, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank, Mr. Philippe Le Houérou, CEO of International Finance Corporation (IFC), Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Mr. Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Mr. Jin Liqun, President of Asian Investment Bank (AIB), and Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) among others. The forum was also attended by 45 African ministers, 2,500 public and leaders of African and international businesses and investors, and members of regional and international FDI stakeholders.
